Lebron is my favorite basketball player. Why? Because he’s the best at what he does and he’s still wants to get better. And he stays highly motivated while carrying himself with a lot of class and humility. And more importantly, he can hit a one-handed, underhand, half court shot and make it look easy. I mean damn, really?
I read this NY Times article earlier today discussing many teenage girls’ take on the Chris Brown/Rihanna domestic violence incident… and it honestly scares me. Here are some highlights:
“In a recent survey of 200 teenagers by the Boston Public Health Commission, 46 percent said Rihanna was responsible for what happened; 52 percent said both bore responsibility, despite knowing that Rihanna’s injuries required hospital treatment.”
“She probably made him mad for him to react like that,” the other ninth grader said. “You know, like, bring it on?”
“Everyone blames Rihanna for this, right?” she said. “She deserves it for being so jealous?” Some students nodded.
Just in case people haven’t seen the picture of her after the incident, here it is. And here are the details from the police report about the incident. I know everybody has their own opinion on this subject and it’s extremely touchy, but it scares me to think that young girls think it’s okay for this to happen. And even worse, that Rihanna somehow deserved the beating.
