MTV VMAs - It’s a Love/Hate Thing
LOVED -
- Lil Wayne’s performance and new verse to Misunderstood (I’m on my Disney ish, goofy flow, Captain Hook… sick)
- Lil Wayne’s guest spot during Kid Rock’s performance (I need me all summer like cold water… live for today & let the rest follow).
- Kanye’s performance and new song. He brought his emotion as always and I loved the simplicity of the red heart glowing on his chest at the beginning of the set.
- Christina Aguilera’s ultra-pop set and song was dope.
- And the Jonas Brothers and Paramore both won me over with their performances. Despite the hate that the Jonas Brothers received from the host Russell Brand, they killed it and their fans went absolutely balistic over them.
- Rihanna’s performance of Disturbia, mostly because she mixed it with 7 Nation Army.
HATED -
- The transparency of Britney’s staged comeback (although she is looking good again). However, even in her darkest hour I’ve always maintained my stance that she would always come back… it’s too soon to tell but she seems on her way.
- The boring crowd. Honestly, during some of the performances you caught a glimpse of the crowd and it seemed to be all celebrities and middle-aged industry people. They had no energy.
- Some of Lil Wayne’s lyrics during Kid Rock’s performance - “I’m in the kitchen looking for watermelon and fried chicken”. Given the appearance of his outfit & the fact he was guesting on a country song, it seemed too minstrel show-esque.
- The post show.
- Corny dialog
- Heidi from the Hills and her boyfriend (whatever his name is).

Viva La Coldplay
Some people like to hate on Coldplay but f that, they’re dope… and hip hop loves Coldplay (ie Jay, Kanye, 50, Swizz, etc). I saw them Tues night at the United Center in Chicago and they were on point. It was a great show and I don’t care what critics are hating on the new album, it’s a damn good album.
