Pineapple Express ***1/2
That’s supposed to mean 3 and a half stars but to be honest it’s completely arbitrary… I don’t even have a real rating system so it isn’t even for certain if it’s out of 4 stars or 5 stars. So here’s a better rating system-
Forgetting Sarah Marshall + Superbad > Knocked Up > Pineapple Express
I saw Pineapple Express last weekend because I wanted to see it opening weekend because I’m that guy that likes to see movies (& get albums) asap… but I wish I would have waited. I had a terrible toothache during the whole movie that forced me to get up a couple of times, which I hate doing during movies, so I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I normally would have.
I did like it though & thought it was good for a weed movie. A lot of parts seemed like they would be funnier if you were high but there were still enough laughs if you were sober. James Franco exceeded my expectations & Seth Rogen did his thing. All in all, it was entertaining but not Judd Apatow’s finest work.

The Olympics Are The Ish
Seriously I didn’t think I would really get into the olympics this year but I drastically underestimated my love of competition…
Michael Phelps is an absolute beast!!!! …& he’s a fan of the homie Lil Wayne & hip hop.
Nastia Liukin is the ish & so is Shawn Johnson & even Alicia Sacramone (despite her misfortunes she has cute eyes & is a fan of hip hop, so she gets a pass).
…& China is really stuntin’ as a host nation. Unfortunately, I missed the opening ceremonies but I hear they were insane & you gotta love the showmanship.
…& the U.S.A. basketball team is actually doing what they’re supposed to do this year and demolishing the competition.
All in all it makes for a great olympics.

Bernie Mac Dead at 50
It’s sad to see people die young (& 50 is definitely young considering technology & health care nowadays), especially a person like Bernie Mac who was always said to be a real nice person. However, he did more in his 50 years than most people could get done in a hundred… & that’s cause for celebration! If you’ve never seen Kings of Comedy, you need to check it out… one of my favorite movies.

R.I.P. Tupac
I have to admit, I’m starting to think that maybe Pac isn’t going to be making a return and might actually be dead because today is exactly eleven years after his death (September 13, 1996) and no sign yet.
Tupac has had a profound effect on my life. Too much of an effect to try and sum it up in a blog post but I will say this -
1) He was a great leader and I think that although many people disagree with many of his actions, I think that he had a genuinely great heart and at his essence saw himself as a servant for his people.
2) He was one of the most tragic figures of our generation. He had so much potential that was lost to petty violence. I feel strongly that Pac died as he lived - as a larger-than-life, in-your-face representation of young, poor, black people… so much potential lost to petty violence! I think that in many of his actions that America didn’t agree with, that’s what he embodied. They were either just too blind to see, or didn’t want to accept the truth.
R.I.P. Tupac.

Hot Shhh…
Here are a couple of songs that you probably won’t hear too much of on the radio but are hot as hell!
This one is from Devin the Dude’s new album “Waiting to Inhale.” It’s called “What a Job This Is” and features Snoop Dogg and Andre 3000 (one of my favorite musicians). 3000’s verse is incredible!
This one is from Talib Kweli and is called “Say Something.” Kweli is easily one of hip hop’s most underrated artists.
